A cover drive is a shot where you hit the ball between the cover/extra cover fielder and the mid-off fielder. This is a shot it is played at a good-length ball outside or around off stump.
Step by step technique:
Step 1:
Take your front leg on the offside but at 45-degree, towards the pitch of the ball
Step 2:
Move you bat in the same line as your front leg
Step 3:
Take your head in the same line as your bat and your front knee
Step 4:
Finish the shot by hitting the ball hard along the ground

- Stance and Setup: Start in a balanced position with your head still and eyes level
- Footwork: Move your front foot toward the pitch of the ball, pointing your front shoulder at the bowler
- Head and Weight: Put your weight onto the front foot and keep your head directly over your front knee
- The Swing: Swing the bat straight down, hitting the ball under your eyes with a high front elbow
- Follow-through: Finish with a smooth high follow-through pointing toward the cover
- Timing: Good timing is more important than hitting the ball hard
My takeaway:
This shot needs a lot of Perfection, Focus, Accuracy, Timing and Precision so I think this is a shot where you must make sure every step should be perfect.
